Description
8mm Flat Brass Rings: Shiny brass rings are the perfect addition for some extra bling in your riveted mail. These rings come in a package of 500g with dome rivets in the correct ratio. They fit the 8mm iron flat rings and the 8mm chainmail sheet. These 8mm rings can also be easily combined with 8mm round rings loose or sheet.
How to use 8mm Flat Brass Rings? With these brass rings, you can create beautiful golden lines at the hem of your mail shirts. This package includes about 900 rings. Around the body, you will need about 200 rings for one line. Around the sleeves, you will need about 2 x 30 rings for one line. So this gives you about 3 lines around the body and sleeves. You even can use these brass rings in motives and patterns. And some of you like to use these 8mm brass rings to mark attachment points for laces on mail chausses or slits.
What about quality? This first batch of 8mm flat brass rings is pretty good! There are ten percent of rings that I would sort out. Mainly they are lacking the punched hole – which one can fix. We aim to keep the quality that way for you.
What about historical accuracy? Brass rings were in use from Roman times to the late Middle Ages and beyond. They tend to preserve in archeological finds when their iron-based siblings rust away in similar conditions. Museums typically speak of copper alloy rings here as a more broad term. You find them used scarcely at the hem of mail armor. That can be at the bottom, at the end of the sleeves, or the collar. Especially in late medieval times, brass rings are used to form decorative triangular fringes.
This is about the amount that you need for your decorative brass lines. For a broader brass area get two or more packages! Time to shine!
